Good morning lovely human, It’s coffee and waffle time again. I swear, the older I get, the more time develops a lead foot. Grab a brew, get comfy, and let’s have a few minutes together. Roll your shoulders a few times. Nod your head in slow motion...lift your gaze on the way up, tuck your chin back and in on the way down. Add the secret ingredient: inhale up, exhale down. Now, do the same with a ‘NO’ motion (we’re coming back to this soon). Long, steady breaths. Slow movements. Use your whole range. Right then…we are here. Welcome to the space for busy minds, tired bodies and humans just trying to do life (me included). This week, I was looking back at a younger version of me. She was the gift that kept on giving. I said yes to helping everyone with everything, all of the time. But not so long ago, the gift shop ran out of "Yeses." I was left with empty shelves and realised I was missing a whole section: mine. Where had I gone? The writer, the singer, the one who’d lie on the bed for hours getting lost in Motown and Soul? The one who lay on the grass cloud-watching with an empty brain? Poof. She’d vanished into the clouds I hadn't noticed a face in, an animal in, or even a phallic, cotton-wool cloud-willy in for months, maybe years. By dropping everything for others and never asking back, I never gave them the space to work things out for themselves. I became the emergency dial for everyone else, and eventually, I lost my own number. I’m certain we’ve all been here…whether in a relationship, a friendship, or a job. What is it for you? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being of service…it’s my jam. But if I’m spending my life washing my boys' grippers and retrieving grey pots from under their beds when they are perfectly capable, I’m not helping. I’m just disappearing. This brought me to the village where Sarah is hiding from the world “It’s 7:15 pm and Sarah is hiding. She is tucking herself away from a world that demands more than she has left. She has poured herself into everyone and everything until the jug is empty. Then, she finds the letter. The front reads: ‘To the one who never learnt to say no.’” [Read/listen Sarah’s full story here] In this week's story, Sarah’s "Older Self" reminds her of something we all forget: You were never meant to be a permanent shelf for other people’s stories and the word NO is a full sentence… Stack Your Shelf… The Mini-Retreat | Sunday 17th May I’m hosting a 3-hour Mind-Body Restore at the studio. A proper, slow Sunday to reset your nervous system and put yourself back on the priority list. There are only 6 spaces left…I’d love to see you there. Weekly Classes If you just need your regular dose of "me time," join me for our weekly sessions at the studio. Whether you need to move, breathe, or just be, the door is open (even if you've not been for a while. The Mellow Meadows This week’s sleep story is ready for you. If you’re struggling to switch off tonight, come and wander through the meadows with me on the podcast. Coffee done, I’m off for a walk with my youngest and Dad….catch you next week, Lynz x |
Hello lovely human, Grab a brew… and before we go any further, let’s take a few slow, steady breaths together. Deep breath in through the nose… Slow breath out… Repeat… in. Now, a slower breath out. One more… In… hold it for a heartbeat or three. Now… sigh it out through the mouth. Great stuff...let's continue. I started in the wellness world over 17 years ago. After a few stressful years of running kitchens, the party lifestyle… followed by having my first child… something in me needed to...
Hi lovely human, I think the weather is teasing us....yes? I felt spring in the air yesterday and now...meh! I've walked to the studio a couple of times this week and my head feels a lot clearer - I do struggle a bit by the end of Feb and am itching to get back out and about. I hope you have been ok over the winter months - maybe you love the cozy-ness, or are like me...itching for out-side-ness! Today is just a quick studio update for the month ahead, so you know what’s on, what’s new, and...
Hi lovely human, I got a message this week that genuinely made me smile… and think. (It’s always dangerous when that happens.) A regular client came to a different class this week. Later I got this message: After reading it I just kept thinking, YES. This is it. We need to train the nervous system as well as the body. Health isn’t just about steps, calories and classes attended. It’s about how your body is coping underneath all of that. When we’re stressed. Work, life, hormones, poor sleep,...
